Lake District Hospital had seven admissions and 45 total E.R./prescriptive services for the week of Tuesday, Aug. 16 – Monday, Aug. 22. There were eight total outpatients in OB and surgery, and one birth. Not all names of the patients admitted are released for publication.

Lake County Sheriff’s Report

• Friday, August 12 — Deputies responded to the Watering Hole bar regarding an unprovoked dog bite to a patron. The investigation revealed that a 78-year-old male was bitten in the arm by a dog that was brought into the bar by another patron. The victim was treated by Silver Lake EMS and was transported to St. Charles for advanced medical treatment. The victim underwent a surgical procedure to repair the injuries inflicted by the dog bite. The dog’s owner will be cited for Reckless Endangerment and Maintaining a Dangerous Animal. The dog was seized and is being quarantined as a dangerous animal. The investigation has been forwarded to the DA for prosecution.

• Monday, August 15 — Deputies observed Chad Brown in a vehicle being driven by another person. Having knowledge Brown was on probation and had violated his probation, Deputies contacted his probation officer. Deputies were advised that Brown had an outstanding Detention Warrant for Brown’s arrest. Brown was booked into the Lake County Jail.

• Monday, August 15 — Deputies responded to a driving complaint with juveniles riding on the roof of a pickup. The reporting party informed dispatch that one of the juveniles was throwing beer cans at passing vehicles. The investigation led to one adult male being arrested, one juvenile male being arrested and transported to Klamath Juvenile Detention Center and the other juvenile male being cited for multiple violations. The investigation has been forwarded to the DA’s Office and Juvenile for follow up.

• Tuesday, August 16 — Deputies responded to the Lakeview Chevron regarding a motor vehicle crash. A vehicle towing a large camp trailer had been fueling at Chevron. Upon exiting the fueling area, the travel trailer struck an overhanging eave at the Chevron station. The impact caused damage to the travel trailer and structure.

• Wednesday, August 17 — Deputies responded to a single vehicle crash off Hwy 140 East at the Plush Cutoff Road. The investigation revealed that the vehicles steering components malfunctioned as the driver was negotiating a curve on the Plush Cutoff Road causing the vehicle to veer off the road. The vehicle hit and sheared off a fiber optic pole. Neither occupant of the vehicle was injured.

• Sunday, August 21 — Deputies responded to a report of a fight involving two females on North J Street. The reporting party stated that she and another female had gotten into a verbal argument over a stuffed animal. The reporting party also stated that during the course of the argument she was pushed. Deputies spoke to the other female who denied pushing the reporting party. There was no evidence of a crime during this investigation.

• Thursday, August 11 — OSP responded to a motor vehicle crash at Hwy 140 and S Roberta Road. A black Ford Focus was traveling northbound on Roberta Road and failed to stop for a stop sign, crashing into a black Kia traveling westbound on Hwy 140. No injuries were reported. ODOT assisted on scene. Hall Towing towed the vehicles.

• Friday, August 19 — OSP responded to a motor vehicle crash on Hwy 31 near milepost 90. A blue Honda CRV was southbound on Hwy 31 when the driver became distracted, overcorrected, and rolled the vehicle through a fence. The driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Hall Towing recovered the vehicle.

• Saturday, August 20 — OSP was dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on Hwy 140 near milepost 25. A gray Dodge truck was westbound on Hwy 140 when it struck and killed two deer crossing the roadway.

• Sunday, August 21 — OSP was dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on Hwy 140 near milepost 90. A silver Dodge sedan was westbound on Hwy 140 when, the driver stated, they went off the roadway and through a fence to avoid a vehicle that had drifted into their lane. The driver arranged for their own tow.
